Abstract is dead.
Long live Abstract.
- Cause of death
- Nothing happened.
- Born
- 27 January 2025 · mainnet, live
- Died
- Sometime after that
- Lived
- 300,000,000 transactions
- Survived by
- Zero seed phrases
A parody. Not affiliated with anyone.
Take a seatAct IJanuary 2025
We built a chain for people who do not want crypto. No seed phrase. Sign in with anything. Own things forever.
It worked. Nobody had to learn anything, which meant nobody learned anything.
Act II Every number is real
- 300M
transactions, served
We treated the transaction count like a finish line. It was a number on a wall.
- 0
seed phrases, ever
The hardest problem in crypto, solved by making sure there was less to lose.
- 1s
to finality
Blink and the transaction is done. Blink again and there is nothing to blink at.
- ∞
weeks of "WAGMI"
It stood for "we're all gonna make it." We did not. It also never stood for that.
So what actually happened in 2025?
- Jan Mainnet goes live. Igloo Inc. ships the Pudgy Penguins chain. No seed phrases, social login, one-second finality. Genuinely the friendliest L2 ever built.
- Feb The XP farm begins. Everyone farms points. Nobody farms a point that compounds into anything. The screenshots arrive before the users do.
- Jun The X account gets hacked and pushes a fake memecoin named after us. Our peak cultural moment was being scammed by someone wearing our own logo.
- H2 App count climbs. User count does not. The chain is technically perfect and completely empty, which is a sentence we did not know how to read at the time.
- 2026 Transaction 300,000,000. A milestone post goes up. Underneath, a dev has quietly started moving funds out.
- then The founder edits his bio. Removes the Abstract handle. The community, which had been watching one small green square for a year, notices within the hour.
- now The RPC still answers. Chain ID 2741, a new block every second. That is the part we cannot explain away: it never actually died. We just stopped going.
Act III20 June 2025
Someone got into our X account and told everyone to buy a fake coin.
Our brief moment of cultural relevance was being a worse idea than a scam named after us.
Act IVThe long middle
The app count kept climbing. The user count did not. Everyone was farming XP and posting the screenshots.
We were not losing users. We were losing users slowly enough to keep posting about it.
January 2026 — XP Day 87. Earned: +0. Everyone posted anyway.
Act VThe turn
At some point a dev began moving money out. Nobody said anything, because saying something makes it real.
Then somebody looked up and the founder had taken the logo out of his bio.
"as long as the founder keeps the logo in his bio, we should be good"
— a real person, in a real thread, about a small green square
Act VIYou are here
We left the block explorer running. Nobody turned it off. So here is the machine.
Put in a wallet. It will tell you the truth, which is the problem.
The mark on this page is the real Abstract logo, rearranged into a frown: three arms turned and scaled about their own centres, nothing redrawn. The wordmark likewise is the real word, one letter mirrored and three slid. It is the logo of no live product. Every chain detail here is either public information or invented for the bit, and the death itself is very much a joke.
Facts that are real: mainnet 27 Jan 2025, Igloo Inc., zkSync ZK Stack, AGW without seed phrases, the 20 Jun 2025 X hack, XP Day. Everything else is a story we told ourselves.
